Pea gravel / Birds eye is great for ground coverage around the home, not so great for pathways. Sometimes used to install pavers upon but not the best materials for this use.
Use birds eye in areas that get light foot traffic, do not use in a driveway for vehicles. Spread pea gravel at a 3 inch depth to get complete coverage with a landscape fabic cloth beneath.
