Sodding a new lawn will cost a little more than the price of the sod:
Removing your old lawn is essential to having a properly prepared base. Removing the old sod will allow the new sod to root properly. You should use a sod cutter and cut to depth of 2 inches. You will also need a disposal bin or truck to haul the old sod away.
Before laying sod you should have a good quality soil base prepared. A good quality sod soil is one that contains approx. 60-70 percent washed sand. You can purchase turf blend soil from BC Instant Lawns here
Sod delivery should only be made once the old lawn is taken out and the new soil in completely prepared. Install the new sod rolls immediately upon receipt. Sod will start to go rotten if its left rolled up in warm weather. When installing the new sod, do not overlap, butt each roll together and lay sod in brickwork fashion.

The cost of sodding a new lawn is appoximately $2.49 per square foot to remove the old and install new sod and topsoil. If you have an area less than 900 square feet the cost will go up to $3-$6 per square foot.
Each roll is 8.5 square feet or 2 feet by 4 feet and 3 inches. The sod harvester cuts the standard size roll to the size above.
